There is power in HOW we wait
Hello there,
How we wait can make or break our circumstances.
Our current culture does not understand how to wait. We throw a fit if our Amazon package isn't here within two days. We're upset if the drive-thru line takes longer than 3 minutes. We look for the shortest line at the grocery store.
We've been conditioned to pursue convenience. Faster = better.
But is that always true? Or are the slower moments open windows for us to experience God in deeper ways?
There is power in waiting. More specifically, there's power in HOW we wait.
'I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. ' Psalms 40:1
Notice the two words describing how David waited on the Lord.
Patiently and expectantly.
How many of us can say we wait with patience? I'll be the first to raise my hand to say that my first instinct is to find a new way if I have to wait—zero patience. I can find another route to get what I want, but I will miss out on the work God wanted to do in me on the original path.
And what about waiting expectantly? Waiting is a chance to hope.
The longer the wait, the more you rev up your hope engine.
If I duck out because I have to wait, I miss the chance to put my hope in God. Said another way, waiting gives us a way to lean into God more.
What if the real miracle we've been waiting for is the waiting itself?
Today, choose to wait patiently and expectantly. It's worth it, friend.
