Zip-Lines: One simple way to boost your creativity
Hey there,
If you want to level up your creativity, increase your exposure to new experiences.
I saw this in action with my kids, and it helped me understand this idea.
We recently watched a show where some kids were zip-lining over a lake. It wasn't anything special. But about 15 minutes into it, I see Kinsey get up from the couch. She grabs a few chairs, some yarn, scissors, and her barbie.
This girl was on a mission.
To do what you ask? Create a barbie zip line.
Let's pause for a moment.
She wouldn't have thought to try this out had she not exposed herself to the zip-lining video.
Creativity is all about connection. But how do you get more connections?
Exposure.
Your next breakthrough idea might be hiding behind a new experience.
Here are some ideas to try out:
Take a different route to work
Take a long walk in a place you've never been before
If you have American cheese on your burger, try pepper jack
Try a new type of food or restaurant
Make something with your hands
Go to a library
Skip down your driveway
Write a silly song (even if you don't sing or play an instrument, try it!)
One final thought. The connection usually happens after you've exposed yourself to something new. It may be a minute later or a week later.
Be patient and enjoy the journey of new things.
